The Golden Gate Derby is an American Thoroughbred horse race run early each year at Golden Gate Fields set at a distance of one and one sixteenth of a mile. The Derby is open to three-year-olds.
A Grade III event, it offers a purse of $150,000.
In its 95th running in 2010, the race is named for San Francisco's famed Golden Gate Bridge spanning the "Golden Gate" from Marin County to the city of San Francisco.
